‘Transition’ by Mwamba Chikwemba / by Start Foundation Trust

On the 13th of April 2019 the Transition exhibition by Mwamba Chikwemba opened.

The exhibition which carried themes of womanhood, boldness and growth is Mwamba Chikwemba's first solo exhibition at 37D Gallery.

The exhibition reflected the artists period of transition and personal growth and how that has had a profound impact on her artistic direction. It also highlights the unknown and often hidden aspects within Bemba culture and her position within it.

Mwamba is a self-taught Zambian artist that works in a wide array of mediums, from acrylic on canvas to metalwork and sculptures. It was wonderful to witness visitors from different walks of life having discussions around the themes presented within the exhibition.

Thank you to everyone who made the day such a success.
