Poppies for Peacekeepers

The stART Foundation has been invited to collaborate on a campaign to raise awareness about Zambian soldiers and the role they have played and are playing today in peace-keeping. The campaign is a Poster Competition in which Visual Artists and Graphic Designers are encouraged to create an artwork which will then be sold to raise funds for the Zambian Ex Servicemen’s League, to be donated to war veterans or their widows.

For the poster competition, artists are urged to research the contribution Zambian soldiers have made. Using their research material the artist should create a theme of an artwork of a dimension and material of their choice. The artworks will be displayed during the September Exhibition at 37d Gallery, after which time the original artworks will be used to make posters to announce the Remembrance Day celebrations in October.

Participating artists include Gladys Kalichini, David Makala, Alison Street, Quentin Allen, Mulenga Mulenga, and Mapopa Manda. 10 kids’ artworks from Pestalozzi, Chikumbuso and Lubuto Library will also be included.
