stART held the first “Just Imagine” Workshop over 2 days on the 14th and 15th of April 2012 at the Visual Arts Council (VAC) Henry Tayali Gallery in the Lusaka Show Grounds.

The workshop was attended by 50 children between the ages of 7 and 18, who qualified to attend through their winning entries in the “What Makes Me Happy” art competition. The workshop was led by leading artists Laurey Nevers, Chafwila Mulenga & Mwaba Mulangala and the programme was designed with the assistance of William Miko.

The curriculum included several exercises such as looking, seeing, measuring, shape, form & colour. The workshop was so successful that as a result the peer educators who accompanied the children have requested assistance from stART to launch their own in-house art programmes. stART is now working towards training some of the more experienced street-kid artists to lead art classes in selected orphanages in Lusaka.
